Wilt Chamberlain was an iconic basketball player who made a significant impact in Black history. Born in 1936 in Philadelphia, Chamberlain was known for his dominance on the basketball court and his record-breaking achievements. He played for the Harlem Globetrotters before joining the NBA, where he played for the Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Los Angeles Lakers.

Chamberlain set numerous NBA records, including scoring 100 points in a single game, a feat that has yet to be matched. He also holds the record for the highest single-season scoring average of 50.4 points per game during the 1961-1962 season. Chamberlain was a 13-time NBA All-Star and a four-time MVP.

Off the court, Chamberlain was an advocate for civil rights and Black empowerment. He used his platform to speak out against racial discrimination and inequality, supporting Black-owned businesses and initiatives.
