The National Negro Business League (NNBL) was founded by Booker T. Washington in 1900. It aimed to promote the interests of African American businesses and entrepreneurs across the United States. The organization provided a platform for networking, skill-building, and economic empowerment within the Black community.

Under Washington's leadership, the NNBL focused on fostering economic self-sufficiency and encouraging Black entrepreneurship as a means of achieving social and political equality. The league held annual conferences, established local chapters, and advocated for policies that would support Black businesses and economic development.

The NNBL played a significant role in advancing economic opportunities for African Americans during the early 20th century. It paved the way for the growth of Black-owned businesses and helped to challenge discrimination and segregation in the business world.

Although the National Negro Business League dissolved in the 1960s, its legacy continues to inspire and empower Black entrepreneurs and business owners to this day.
