There have been many influential actors in Black history who have made significant contributions to the entertainment industry and beyond. Some notable Black actors in history include:

1. Sidney Poitier: A trailblazing actor who paved the way for future generations of Black actors, Poitier was the first Black performer to win an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in "Lilies of the Field" in 1963.

2. Hattie McDaniel: The first African American to win an Academy Award, McDaniel won Best Supporting Actress for her role as Mammy in "Gone with the Wind" in 1939.

3. Dorothy Dandridge: A talented actress and singer, Dandridge was the first African American woman to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the film "Carmen Jones" in 1954.

4. Denzel Washington: One of the most acclaimed actors of his generation, Washington has won two Academy Awards for Best Actor for his roles in "Glory" (1989) and "Training Day" (2001).

5. Viola Davis: Known for her powerful performances, Davis made history as the first Black woman to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in "How to Get Away with Murder" in 2015.

These actors, among many others, have used their talent and platform to break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and inspire future generations of Black performers.
